How to maintain truck engine

One of the most important items in truck maintenance is engine maintenance. As important as the human heart, the diesel engine is the heart of the truck, the source of power. How to maintain the heart of the truck? Good maintenance can extend the service life of the engine and reduce the failure rate. The main maintenance items are carried out around the “three filters”. The maintenance of air filters, oil filters, and fuel filters allows them to give full play to their roles in use and assist the engine to efficiently complete the work of power output.

1. Maintenance of air filter

The engine air intake system is mainly composed of an air filter and an air intake pipe. The air filter filters the delivered air to ensure that clean air is delivered to the engine. According to different conditions of use, an oil-bath air filter can be selected, and the filter element can be cleaned or replaced regularly. The paper dust cup air filter used should be dusted every 50-100 hours (usually a week) and cleaned with a soft brush or fan.

Use oil bath air filter. Clean the filter element and replace the lubricating oil with clean diesel every 100-200 hours (two weeks). When using, pay attention to adding lubricating oil according to regulations. Under normal circumstances, replace the filter element with a new one every time the filter element is cleaned three times. Replace it immediately if it is damaged or severely contaminated.
Second, the maintenance of the oil filter
During the use of a diesel engine, the metal components that perform work will wear out. If the oil filter is not maintained in time, the oil containing contaminants will not be effectively filtered, which will cause the filter element to rupture or open the safety valve, from the bypass valve. Passing will also bring dirt back to the lubrication part, accelerate the wear of the engine, aggravate internal pollution, and affect the service life of the diesel engine. Therefore, the oil filter should be replaced every time the oil is maintained. The filter element model of each model is different, the matching filter element must be used, otherwise the filter will be invalid.

3. Maintenance of fuel filter
For long-distance driving, there are many large and small refueling stations on the roadside, and poor quality diesel will be added to the uneven maintenance. Drivers often call “little fuel”. The hazard of “little oil” to the engine is self-evident. First of all, please make sure to choose a reliable gas station to fill with qualified fuel. The diesel filter is the last barrier to protect the fuel system. Compared with traditional fuel system technology, the common rail system is higher and more precise, and requires high-quality common rail system special fuel filters. Therefore, the maintenance of the fuel filter is very important. There are two types: coarse fuel filter and fine filter.

Every 100-200 hours of operation (two weeks, at least 20,000 kilometers according to the number of kilometers), various fuel filters in the fuel supply system should be inspected and replaced, and at the same time, check whether the oil-water separator is working properly, and Whether the fuel tank and all fuel pipes are dirty, clean the fuel tank and all fuel pipes thoroughly if necessary. All components of the entire fuel supply system should be carried out during the seasonal transitional oil change. The diesel used should meet the seasonal requirements and undergo 48 hours of precipitation and purification treatment.
4. Other matters needing attention.
1. The choice of diesel
Recognize a concept-freezing point (freezing point), the highest temperature at which the oil sample is cooled to the liquid level without flowing under specified conditions, also known as the freezing point. If the freezing point is too high, it is easy to cause blockage of the oil circuit at low temperature. In our country, the marking of diesel is based on the freezing point. The freezing point is the main basis for selecting diesel. Therefore, suitable diesel should be selected in different regions and different seasons.
Main classification:
There are seven grades of light diesel oil: 10, 5, 0, -10, -20, -30, -50

If the diesel grade is lower than the required temperature, the fuel system in the engine may be waxed, blocking the oil circuit, and affecting the normal operation of the engine.

2. It is not suitable to run at idle for a long time
Long-term idling will reduce the quality of fuel injection atomization and accelerate the early wear of the cylinder wall. Because the quality of atomization is directly related to the injection pressure, the diameter of the injector and the speed of the camshaft. Due to the constant diameter of the injector, the fuel atomization quality depends on the fuel injection pressure and the camshaft speed. The slower the speed of the camshaft, the longer the fuel injection pressure rises, and the worse the quality of fuel atomization. The speed of the camshaft changes with the speed of the diesel engine. Long idle speed can cause diesel engine combustion temperature to be too low and incomplete combustion, which may cause carbon deposits to block injector nozzles, piston rings or jam valves. In addition, if the temperature of the diesel engine coolant is too low, some unburned diesel oil will wash the oil film on the cylinder wall and dilute the oil, so that all moving parts of the diesel engine cannot be well lubricated, leading to premature wear of the parts. Therefore, the idle time is controlled at about 10 minutes.
